Crew Team LettersLetter from Steve Gladstone, Cal Crew Director:Dear Alumni, Family, and Friends, Please click here for complete results from the Seattle Races. As you can imagine, we were very pleased with the results of the Freshmen and Varsity Races. The Freshmen moved away from the very first stroke and increased their margin all the way down the course and marked the first time that the Freshmen have defeated Washington three years in a row. The Varsity race was a real battle, Cal moved out to a couple of seat lead in the first 300 meters and slowly expanded it to about seven seats with 800 meters to go. Washington then pushed back to within four seats at the 500 meter mark, however, our guys were able to respond and moved out to a full length over the Huskies. There is no doubt that the win was satisfying. That being said, the PAC-10's should be another tough contest. We were disappointed in the JV race. Not so much the result but the fact that we did not row a poised race. We rowed too high after the settle. As a consequence, never got a sustainable rhythm in the boat. The good news is, that we are all convinced that we can correct that and give the Huskies a run at the PAC-10's. As always, thank you for your interest and support. All My Best, |
